I was just thinking

The Tiny Acorn Among the Giant Blogging Oaks had finally Sprouted...or had it?

I was just thinking that our interconnectedness with social media is almost frightening and I feel the pain of, I believe it was, Bellamy Brothers  singing "I'm just an old hippie and I don't know what to do....should I hang on to the old, should latch on to the new" except my song is "I'm just an old IT director and I don't know what to do....."     As a sporadic blogger I am certainly no Wes Fryer faithfully and consistently cranking out content, but I have visions of blog posts dancing in my head.  Here is where I am going with this.   I like to think that some of my posts have some relevance in the technology field and along the way I sometimes just post what I happen to be doing.  Such was the case the other night when I went to the Old Heidleberg Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. I wrote about eating the best bratwursts ever, my wife's German heritage etc.   I also had recently wrote about open content free textbooks and other educational stuff.  The next day on my tweeter feed I see that my Bratwurst post had been pushed out to the Book Publishing Daily as shown below.

Boy was I excited, finally someone had recognized the intellectual prowess of my Open Content/Free Textbook discussions.  The tiny acorn among the giant blogging oaks had finally sprouted... Well, to my surprise when I went to review my achievement I was featured under the Leisure Section. Now some of you have have worked with me in the past would say leisure or maybe the snack section is where I belong and maybe that is true. And it is neat that my Bratwurst observations are interesting to someone.

My point for today is you never know where the content you put on the internet will show up.  Guard your virtual thoughts and be aware people are watching.  Your personal and professional digital profile is yours to protect.
