Learning to Grow Well: Humanizing the Distance Learning Experience with Technology

I was just thinking that Learning to Grow well is not always easy.   There are many disaster stories about organizations which have grown too fast for their own good.  We are a small rural institution who is on the verge of not being small and as such have had to think about what all of this means.  Much of this story is told in the video below and in my post :

Cost Savings, Economic Impact, Enterprise Capability and User Expec...

I recently had the opportunity to present a session for the the 2011 Cisco Education Forum.  My profile for this event is show at the end of this post.

In preparing for this I had the opportunity to see the support resources that a multi-national corporation can throw at a learning event such as this. It was fun, but it makes me think about the people who question more money being spent on education.  If less money for education is OK then why are so many resources which cost a whole lot of money thrown at corporate educational events.  That is probably something to think about for another day. Anyway,  if you want to see some great presentations from speakers such as Salman Khan of the Khan Academy then register and watch all of them.  If you want to just see me then click on the link below:

The 2011 Cisco Virtual Forum for Education Leaders launched on March 9, 2011 and is now available on-demand until September 30, 2011.   Essentially I got to tell the story of what we have done the past 14 years in a 10 minute format.   Now there is certainly more to this story and most often people ask about the cost savings.  I think at the point at which we are at in this process that cost savings are now a by product rather than a driver. I have discussed this further in a post to our college blog.  I will also re post to this blog.  As you can see this was a very well attended event.

That's all for now.
