Denmark Meets the Great Western Cattle Trail

The Great Western Cattle Trail - also known as the Dodge City Trail and the Old Texas Trail - was utilized from 1874 for the movement of cattle to markets East. The trail began at Bandera, Texas and ended, most often, in Dodge City, Kansas. The entire trail extended from southern Texas to the Canadian border. Between 10 and 12 million cattle were driven north from Texas into Dodge City. It was the western branch of the Chisholm… Continue

Time and Space and Globalization

I have had the honor over the past few years to see, hear and more importantly get to know a few incredibly gifted educational technologists. A few of those I follow (and swipe ideas from ) regularly because I think they have a great feel for educational technology and even the pulse of culture and society. Jason Cole, author of the Using Moodle book published by OReilly comes to mind for one as his talks are always thought provoking and… Continue

American Exceptionalism, My View My Experience

American Execeptionalism

Many Americans familiar with the phrase "city upon a hill" associate it with verse fourteen of Matthew chapter five of Jesus Sermon on the Mount which more specifically states "...A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." A Positive Spin on Corporate Responsibility

I had the privilege of speaking to the Elgin OK Chamber of Commerce yesterday April 14, 2009. I also had the privilege of speaking on a little different topic than normal. The title of my talk "Is your Web 2.0 Business Plan Smarter than a 5th Grader" is of course a play on a couple of recent technological and/or cultural phenoms. The Elgin Chamber version of this talk was basically a general intro to some Web 2.0 terms, thoughts about technology and how you might start learning about those… Continue

Desktop Video Update from Peter Williams

Got a great email today from Peter William of Stewardship Learning on the development of browser based video tools. As I think about this what I think that I think is that companies such as Tandberg and Polycom will hate this and may actually say this not directly competing with what they do. However, I think they should listen to Dr. Jason Coles Distruptive Technolog Talk http://salesdemo.mediasite.com/salesdemo5/Viewer/?peid=47735e8cb55c444aa2bfc3353882a03c He will be the keynote at ODLA next… Continue
